Iloilo Quickie (Part 1)

During my previous blog, I vow not to fly with cebu pacific but alas! our paths have crossed again. Surprisingly it was not that bad. The kind cebu pacific ground personnel placed me on seat 1A, I was so glad that I will seat on the front with nice leg room w/o paying for it. How I wish that the flight was more than 50min. This was one of the most relaxing and super comfy flight I experienced so far (besides with Cathay Pacific and PAL).

Seat 1A

Soon to be gone (to be re-painted with PAL colors)

NAIA T3. Only Cebu Pacific and Airphil Express / Pal Express are the local LCCs that fly out of NAIA T3. How I wish PAL will transfer to T3. But T3 is waaaay better than old domestic airport and NAIA T2 (PAL's terminal)

Flight Attendant's seat. I don't know about you guys but I find Cebu Pac's FAs pretty and very neat. Too bad i haven't taken a picture of them.

Taxing

Airphil Express. Re-painted as PAL livery.

Yes I know, using your gadget while waiting for take off is a no no! but NAIA is sooo congested and it's been 30 mins since our plane hasn't take off so better kill some time.

Lunch at Yangchow Tea House

It may be not one of t the best chinese restaurant around like Komrad Mao or H.K Choi but it is certainly affordable and okay. What I like about this restaurant is that they serve hot tea unlike other restaurants, and certainly yangchow is better than Hap Chan

Hakaw (Shrimp Dumpling). So far as to my quest for the best tasting hakaw around metro manila, Hap Chan's and H. K. Choi is far the best. Yangchow's Hakaw is somewhat ordinary, and bland not really worth of remembering.

Hototay Soup. It's my first and sadly it's with Yangchow, nothing great, nothing delicious. it's like a egg drop soup with vegetables. Very bland.

Yangchow fried rice. It's okay, edible enough and not oily.

Dinner at Kanin Club (Re-Visit) / Dessert at Cab Cafe (Re-Visit)

We were suppose to eat at a new restaurant around Kapitolyo but my cousin wants to eat Filipino Food since she will migrate to the states and surely she will miss our local dish. Sometimes, Filipino Food doesn't surprise me anymore since my mom cooks this kind of dishes all the time but I'm glad many restaurants like 1521, Cafe Juanita, Sentro, etc. revolutionized Filipino dishes and put some modern twists in it.

Sinigang na Hipon. This Sour Shrimp dish with vegetables will surely invigorate your taste buds. The Sour taste, the fresh shrimp, and the crisp vegetables are all a wonderful combination for those people who love Soup.

Seafood Kare-Kare. This dish is hard to cook! My mom doesn't know how and doesn't want to learn since it's very complex. The peanut sauce is really really yummy! I did try to cook kare-kare but my patience in cooking ran out. =)

Crispy Pata / Deep Fried Pork Knuckles. It may look foreign or disgusting to others but I tell you, when you taste this, it's soooooooo yummy! It's also good to partner with beer.

Dinner at Min Sok Saeng Deung Sim

It's my older sister's 26th Birthday, and she decided to treat us all for dinner at a korean restaurant in makati. I was sooo excited! I love korean food, but I just had some last week during my visit to Dong Won Garden.

This Korean Restaurant is situated at Kalayaan Ave - Bel Air (the one situated near Som's, Rockwell)

I find the mood and the aura of the restaurant very authentic and very Korean! just like what i watch in the television.

Sickeningly Sweet.Donuts, Donuts, Donuts!!

Yes! I ate donuts over the weekend! I've been bad. But I'll tell you a little bit of History and culture.

Years ago, Dunkin Donuts and Mister Donut are the only 2 donut company that is well known and popular in the Philippines. They have the typical flavors like Honey Dipped, Bavarian, etc. but as time passed by, A new Donut company opened which is Gonuts Donuts, they sell very different donuts! those unconventional donuts like the pictured below. It was a instant boom, it was a massive hit! waiting in line will take you forever but Filipinos are fond of trying something new or we like to be part of the new hit, in a way we like to be part of something new and hip.

By the way, Gonuts Donuts used to have restaurants, but now they only have kiosks. sad.

After quite some time, A major International Donut Company opened in the Philippines and that is Krispy Kreme! again, same as with Gonuts Donuts from it's opening, it subsequently declined the long lines and ques  but still many people do eat krispy kreme donuts.

Alas! J.Co Donuts arrived with it's new offer and variety of Donuts. from Chocolates to Oreo to Green Tea etc. as expected opening of J.Co and up to now queuing in line will starve you to death if your hungry. I really don't understand people that have to wait so long in line. It's just donut.

I never really liked Gonuts Donuts, Krispy Kreme, and J.Co. they are all too sweet and will make you so fat.

I'd still opt to eat at the old fashioned and not too sweet donuts of Dunkin Donuts and/or Mister Donuts. =)
