Dinner at Sushi-Ya

Hello!

We know that during WW 2 Japanese Empire sided with the axis power (Italy, Germany) and with bombing of Hiroshima, Japan forced itself to isolation.

Kamikaze - Military tactic used by the japanese forces at the latter time of the war. These are pilots that do suicide attacks toward their enemies (as see above)

Who could forget the very famous anime that made our imagination filled with fantasies: Doraemon.

Iconic, magnificent and glamorous Geisha. Listen, Geishas are not prostitutes. They are considered celebrities / artists at that time, although the maikos (apprentice geisha) perform the mizuage it is abolished during the 50s / 60s

Besides the wonderful and rich culture, Japanese cuisine is something that many people like. Btw, Sushi-Ya is not authentic as the japanese restaurants that sprung up like mushrooms here in Manila but Sushi-Ya is affordable and close to authentic japanese food :)

California Maki (P85) Not bad for it's price (if your looking for affordable maki) but of course if you are able to taste high quality sushi from some fancy restaurant, you will know the difference. I have to commend the rice though, it's sticky and smooth but short in taste.

Tempura Udon (P145) noodles are firm and okay. Tempura is okay. The soup is not that tasty, lacks that umami taste of a ramen soup. But then again, given it's price no complain.

Ebi Tempura (P148) crispy, medium sized deep fried prawns in japanese flour. It's quite nice actually, the shrimp is not that small and you can taste it's meat but the negative side of this is that the tempura are a little oily.

Hong Kong Day 1 (Part 2) Harbour City, Tram, Dinner

The easiest, cheapest, and relaxing way to get to the city is taking the bus It only cost around 30-38 HKD. The bust station is just outside the airport and it's a double-decked bus, the lower deck space is for the luggage and passengers and the upper deck is for passengers.

Clark International Airport / Hong Kong International Airport Planespotting (Hong Kong Day 1)

I was not particularly excited about this trip (except for Macau - Day 2) since I visited HK many times but I never get bored travelling especially food escapades at  local restaurants.

I got the free ticket (via clark) from my trip to beijing last spring. The ticket excluded the surcharge, PH travel tax, and terminal fee which I didn't mind since it's free naman and the taxes are cheap.

Ongoing expansion of Clark (Qatar and Emirates will commence daily service to the middle east starting October)

Birthday Lunch at Yabu, House of Katsu

It's my Birthday!! I woke up around 9 am and feeling great about myself! I realized how blessed I am and how I am loved by many people. I went to the dentist (my cousin is a dentist) to have my teeth cleaned and do some sot of fixing.

After the dentist, I went straight to SM Megamall to eat lunch at YABU. It's my second time at yabu and their food never fails to satisfy one's craving!

Seafood Set (P545): Salmon, Black Tiger Prawn, Oyster, and Crab. Everything is such a bliss! everything is so yummy! Cabbage was a delight! Rice was white as snow! I ended up asking for 4 service of rice and 3 service of cabbage. =)

Yummy!!

Choco Lava. (P155) So chocolate-y and so yummy! sweet ending! :)

After Yabu, I went to church to attend Mass and I felt the love of all the people around me, my friends, family, colleague, and especially God. I realized how lucky and blessed I am.

As I grew older I become wiser, responsible, and priorities are changing. It's such a nice day to celebrate alone (not to emote) to realize things, and to know yourself better. Of course, a small dinner gathering after with my family!

Happy 23rd Birthday to me!! :)

Lunch at Beijing Day 2

After the tour at the Forbidden City, we headed for lunch and unfortunately the food was not good. Chinese food is basically oily compare to other cuisine. After the lunch I was still hungry.

Sauteed bokchoi. Oily and tasteless.

This was the only dish that has taste. Beaded Fish with a hint of salty flavor.

I don't know what is this but I know this are carrots. I didn't eat this since I'm not a fan of carrots especially if it sauteed like this.

Dessert at Icebergs

Beat the heat with Ice Cream!!

Icebergs is known for it's premium Ice Cream especially their Supreme Halo-Halo

Strawberry Sundae. Creamy strawberry ice cream topped with whipped cream, strawberry, underneath are strawberries and banana with nuts. I love how the whipped cream balances the sweetness of the strawberry syrup, banana and ice cream. (P178)

Strawberry Tower (P220) Banana slices at the bottom followed by Strawberry syrup, thick whipped cream, chocolate ice cream, strawberry syrup, strawberry ice cream, strawberries, whipped cream, and strawberries at the top. It was sinfully blissful! It was sooooo good! I didn't finish the syrup at the bottom since it's too sweet and I might end up having diabetes.

Supreme Halo-Halo. Filipino's pride and all time favorite local dessert which bursts with flavors and sweetness. It contains shaved ice, ube and strawberry ice cream (best combination), corn flakes, corn, jelly, sweet beans, milk, nata de coco, ube halaya, and flan. You have to mixed them all together (Halo-Halo is the tagalog term for mix) so that you can taste all the flavors of the different ingerdients.
